This is a sad news article. A pedestrian walking at night was hit and killed by an ambulance crew. Why is this in the EMS information forum? Most providers who drive ambulances especially here in Kenya think driving with lights and a siren (code 3 in US) is a right, it is not, it is a privilege provided to EMS crews to get critical patients to a higher level of care quickly. Driving code 3 does not allow any rescue vehicle to put others in harm's way and has several guidelines crews must follow. In Kenya so many citizens walk in or very close to the road, there is limited lighting on road and seems most like to wear dark colored clothing. Please be aware of your surroundings, slow down and if "protocols" allow drive code 3 but follow all the restrictions. Be safe and be smart
